Legaline acquires Reclamacionex to branch into airline passenger claims offerings

- June 13, 2018

Spanish online legal claims company, Legaline, acquires Reclamacionex to add airline passenger claims to its list of offerings.

Reclamacionex is an online platform that has been operating in the Spanish market since 2016 and is specialized in claims against airlines for issues of cancellations, delays, lost or damaged baggage, and overbooking.

The acquisition is another step in Legaline’s goal to “be one of the main channels in Spain in the processing of online claims,” according Legaline CEO Jaime Aparicio via El Referente.

“The passenger who suffers some offense against airlines such as delays, cancellations or lost luggage in many cases does not know the right to claim financial compensation and through Legaline we want to simplify this process, so they can act as protected by the European legislation,” said Aparicio.

Opening a new growth path for the legaltech company with the acquisition, Legaline expects to bill an amount of more than €1 million over the next year.

“This acquisition will allow us to continue to grow and position ourselves in the sector, offering more and more services with our technology that allows us to manage very efficiently and quickly, helping to make life easier for society and to continue with the mindset that making claims is easy and cheap,” said the Legaline CEO.

However, Legaline won’t be without competition in the Spanish airline passenger claims space.

Two months ago, Sabadell-based claims and management startup for airline passengers Populetic closed a round of funding of 400,000 to expand its services internationally with a European focus.

Populetic handles claims and management between users and airlines that focuses on managing compensation for passenger issues such as delays, cancellations, overbooking, and incidents with luggage.

With an operations-based approach and a specialized airline claims team, Populetic boasts that it has obtained a success rate of 98%. Compensations range from 250 to €1,500 per passenger.

For Legaline, its methodology allows clients to contact and process their claims completely online. Through its online portal, users just enter their data and attach their documentation, allowing them to do so from any device.

Next year the Spanish legaltech company will look to add artificial intelligence to its processes.
