South Summit Brazil, the leading global meeting of entrepreneurial ecosystems co-organized by IE University and the Government of Rio Grande do Sul, has crowned Airway Shield the winner of its second edition of the startup competition.
Airway Shield, a startup from Santander (Cantabria), has developed the world’s first medical device that makes the endotracheal intubation technique safe for both patients and professionals.
The startup was among over 2,000 projects worldwide that competed in this competition.
In addition to Airway Shield, other startups, were recognized for their innovative projects.
Bankuish won the “Most Innovative” project award, while Trashin from Brazil won the “Best Team” award.
Alana AI, also from Brazil, won the “Most Scalable” project award for developing Artificial Intelligence to improve customer service, interacting and responding to customers automatically, personalized, and humanized on any digital channel.
Lastly, the “Most Sustainable” startup distinction went to Incentiv, an innovative platform born in Brazil that centralizes all solutions regarding tax incentives.
Building bridges
The relationship between Latin America and Spain startups and the entrepreneurial ecosystem is crucial for expanding the market and attracting new investors.
María Benjumea, founder and president of South Summit, highlighted “the connection we have generated between Spain and Latin America through this event”.
She also revealed that the objective for the third edition of South Summit Brazil, scheduled to be held in Porto Alegre in 2024, would be “to make a much more international edition that connects all the ecosystems of Ibero-America, Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre with all corners of the world”.
“We built this together, from entrepreneurs to investors, speakers, corporations, governments, educational institutions, etc.”, she added.
More than 3,000 entrepreneurs attended the South Summit Brazil, generating real business opportunities.
The event saw over 40,000 high-value connections made through the official South Summit Brazil app during the three-day event.
It also attracted over 900 speakers, 100 investment funds with a portfolio of $123 billion, 700 accredited media outlets, and more than 22,000 attendees.
