HUB Ventures launches accelerator program for startups to electrify transport sector

- December 15, 2017

The HUB startup accelerator announces the launch of a program aimed at developing and innovating electric mobility through digital disruption with an event that will kick off in Seville on December 18.

HUB Ventures is looking to accelerate market-fit startups in Seville whose businesses are based in the “mobility” sector. Registration is now open and those interested in the four-month acceleration program can submit their candidacy until January 20.

“From the ‘Hub de Movilidad Conectada’ we want to invite you to know the advantages of electric vehicles through real cases of public entities and startups that carry as a hallmark the commitment to the environment and efficiency,” the accelerator said on its blog.

Promoted by Singularity University’s Seville Chapter, the initiative will kick off with an event at the Parque Científico Tecnológico Cartuja in Seville with a presentation on “Electric Mobility, a matter of responsibility and efficiency.”

Speakers in attendence will include:

Jacinto Gómez, EMASESA (Empresa Metropolitana de Abastecimiento y Saneamiento de Aguas de Sevilla)
Gregorio López, CEO and Founder at Mission Box
José María Gómez, CEO and Founder at Passion Motorbike Factory

Air pollution caused by conventional, gas-guzzling cars and trucks is a major concern in big cities, and by switching to more electric-powered vehicles, organizers are hoping to reverse this trend.accelerator startups electric transport

That’s why HUB is calling upon startups to innovate in the electric vehicle and transportation industries — to find more energy-efficient and green ways of dealing with transporation.

“Zero emission vehicles are a perfect solution to this problem; an alternative to the combustion vehicles that we are so accustomed to using. However, we have the perception that 100% electric vehicles are something more of the future than of the present when, really, they are something that is increasingly within our reach,” HUB said on its blog.

Hub Ventures is a venture builder concept in which high potential teams are formed and business ideas are proposed for their development. It was established as a program that seeks to create compact and multidisciplinary teams who will develop startups to contribute towards a more sustainable and efficient future in transportation.

Phase 1 of the program, which consisted of ideas and planning began in November. Now, between December and February, the startup selection and team formation processes are taking place.

Once trained and with the business ideas assigned, the startup teams will work for four months in Seville in an incubation program of the Hub de Movilidad Conectada, which ends with a ‘demo day’ with investors.
