Dribo raises €250,000 to gamify, democratize and digitalize driver learning process

Dribo, the first reference platform in Spain and Europe that allows users to obtain a driving license through a unique and online learning method, closes its first round of financing with a total of €250,000 between public and private backers.

With the aim of democratizing the market while updating and modernizing the sector, Dribo is looking to use the funds to facilitate and transform access to mobility in a sustainable and safe way by personalizing and digitizing the driver learning process, according to Ecommerce-News.

“The platform was born with the will to facilitate access to mobility and to train new drivers in the responsibility of getting behind the wheel of a vehicle,” said Enric Romero, CEO and Co-founder at Dribo.

“We do not want young people to just memorize questions, but to understand the new role they are going to have in society,” he added.

The startup will allocate the funds to consolidate the project, to expand the team, and to improve the quality and usability of its services while expanding nationally.

With more than 8,000 registered downloads in just three months, Dribo intends to offer an innovative digital solution in Europe, presenting its own unique methods, including gamification.

The financing round was led by Deloitte, Cuatrecasas, Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Co, Amazon and Antai, as well as public capital support from ENISA Young Entrepreneurs.

Dribo is based on optimizing the whole process of obtaining the driver’s license, since the theoretical part is done through the app (mLearning), while the practice through own vehicles and agreements with driving schools (marketplace).

The startup offers between 40% and 60% savings compared with official driving schools, and it charges €149 through the mobile app.

The app, available on Google Play, contains all the official content of the updated DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico) and more than 3,000 exam questions.

The platform allows users to study, prepare, take the written test, and apply for the actual driving test at a registered office.
