Barcelona-based Abac Capital today launches Abac Nest together with a group of entrepreneurs to invest in seed rounds for Spanish startups.
Abac Nest aims to invest between €50,000 and €100,000 per seed round in startups, with the ability to allocate up to €200,000 euros in subsequent rounds, in which it plans to co-invest with venture capital funds, family offices, and angel investors.
By partnering with a dozen entrepreneurs, including Fractus Co-Founder and CEO Rubén Bonet, Abac Nest is to be a vehicle to lead seed phases investments in the Spanish entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“With Abac Nest we have a general goal and we are going to focus on startups based in Spain but with an international ambition. Many of the opportunities that we have begun to see have a strong technological component, but we also feel comfortable investing in young companies of the so-called real economy; these are traditional businesses with a disruptive strategy,” said Bonet.
At the time of today’s launch, Abac Nest already has at least two companies in its portfolio: Devicare — an innovative solution to treat and monitor chronic patients, and Mr. Noow — a mobile app to consult letters, order and pay at restaurants.

Abac Capital Founders Oriol Pinya, Borja Martínez de la Rosa, and Javier Rigau together have more than 20 years of experience in venture capital investments in a wide variety of industries, countries, and development phases.
They were part of the launch of three of the greatest Spanish venture capital successes: Jazztel, eDreams and Vueling.
“In recent years we have seen a maturation in the Spanish entrepreneurial landscape, with powerful management teams and very ambitious projects capable of competing globally and attracting international investment,” said Martínez de la Rosa.
“From Abac, we are very excited to contribute to closing the gap of professionalized investment in the seed phase, helping to catapult good teams and business ideas with the support of Rubén Bonet and a dozen successful entrepreneurs, managers and entrepreneurs who have Co-opted with us,” he added.
